Choosing Self Publishing?

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Self publish is a lot of work. With that said you can not complain later that we didn??t warn you. While there are many advantages to self publishing, it is also quite a long way from being easy or less stressful. Yet, the good far outweighs the bad. As the author, you can publish your books as you see fit and you will always have the final say. But, as an author, you also need to realize that most of the financial, marketing, and inventory of the books will fall onto your shoulders in self publishing.

In this type of publishing set up, you, as the author, will be the one that is responsible for developing the books, designing the layout and even working to come up with the cover and illustrations. Then, it will be up to you to have them printed as well. In many cases, you will need to foot this bill yourself. Next, you??ll need to market the book yourself so that those that it would interest will know that it is there. Some self publishing authors have no inventory and print the books only as they have an order for them. Nonetheless, basically all aspects of the publish fall to your shoulders.

Yet, this is an amazing experience. You are able to have complete freedom to do as you like with your book. No publisher will be involved telling you what the layout of the book should be or what the cover needs to look like. And, with all the advances in printer equipment for the average PC, not to mention the many locations that you can go and get the book printed, you can take care of virtually all aspects yourself successfully. So, self publishing may be hard, but it can be well worth it in the end.

Verbal Communication Skill Secrets For Success at Work and at Home

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

To be able to communicate verbally, even if that “verbal” is with sign language for people who are hearing impaired, is vitally important. Without good verbal communication skill, getting by in life would be virtually impossible. Every day, in so many ways, we use those skills.

When you go into work, verbal skills are really needed. To talk on the phone with clients, to give orders to your subordinates, or to deal with your boss; you have to speak to them. And, just talking is not enough. If you are trying to get a raise from your boss, or to explain a mistake, you need to speak eloquently and convincingly. When dealing with your staff, sometime you have to give encouragement, and other times you have to give them a verbal kick to motivate them.

If you are trying to win a new client for the firm, you have to be able to show them what your company has to offer. Now, sometimes visual aids help, but what if you are on the phone? Then, it can be merely the strength of your voice and the power of your arguments that wins them over. Conversely, if you speak with a current client who is unhappy, then your voice, your tone, and your words are all that stands between them going or staying. Your verbal communication skill will really need to be at peak performance then.

In a crisis, often our words are all we have. If you should (perish the thought) find yourself on a wrecked train or plane, and people are screaming and upset; your words may be the only thing that can calm them enough for you all to escape. There is that old saying: “Freedom of speech does not mean you are free to scream ‘Fire!’ in a crowded theater”. Well, think about it, even if the building really is on fire, should you scream that out? Carefully chosen words can help people to stay calm and get out safely.

Along those same lines, there are legal matters. Still today we have the tradition, coming down to us from the Middle Ages, of going to court for a hearing. We swear to tell the truth, and give testimony. If you should find yourself in court on a legal matter, whether it be a civil suit or a criminal trial, the power of your words alone will be all you have. Trying to convince a jury that you are innocent by merely screaming: “I didn’t do it, I didn’t do it!” over and over is not going to carry much weight. You must speak clearly and succinctly, and guide them to see the truth of your words. It was with good reason that public speaking and rhetoric were part of the classic education system.

In our personal lives, verbal communication skill is a vital means of sustaining relationships. You have to be able to talk to those you love and care about. Without that, your relationships will wither and die. How many times have you seen couple who seem to argue about everything: politics, religion, movies, you name it? Yet, they stay together. Agreeing on things is not the key to a strong relationship.

It is mutual respect and communication. So long as you can talk, so long as the lines of communication stay open, your relationship has a chance of staying alive. The same goes for family members. How many brothers / sisters / cousins etc. are you on good relations with? Odds are, it is the ones you talk to the most. Again, even if you do not agree on things, if you at least talk, the relationship will be all the stronger for it. You need good verbal communication skill for that.

In our everyday lives, we communicate all the time with the people we encounter. We talk to co-workers, we interact with our bosses and the people who hire us. We talk to our spouse and loved ones. So, it’s no wonder that verbal communication skill is important to us.

Healthy Salad Dressings Made Easy

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

With warmer weather looming on the horizon in Northern America, many women and men start to simplify and streamline their diets. Gone are the heavy chili dinners and beef stews that fill our bellies in the dead of winter. Enter the salad: cool, fresh, crisp bursts of flavor - but not necessarily a significant caloric savings over a meat and potatoes dinner. The culprit: creamy, oil based dressings. The solution: for most, it’s to take their dressing on the side.

Traditional commerically prepared salad dressings are an easy way to turn a healthy salad into a calorie-dense, fat-laden disaster. Bottled dressings can have anywhere from 8 to 20 grams of fat per serving.

Take your dressing on the side? Never! At least, there??s never a need when you make your own healthy salad dressings.

Of course, you can buy decent commercial low-fat dressings, or even organic dressings but, more often than not, they are loaded with unhealthy elements like sugar and heavy amounts of heart-unhealthy sodium.

It??s hard, however, to beat a homemade dressing!

The key to making delicious healthy dressings at home is to reduce the oils and other fats, and bump up the ingredients that add texture and flavor.

The oil in any salad dressing serves several functions, including providing a ??cling” or “binding” factor, so your acidic and other flavorings (such as vinegar and herbs) don??t end up in a puddle at the bottom of the bowl.

Oil also serves to soften and balance the acids so that they’re more pleasing to the pallate.

When thinking of healthier dressings, most people eschew creamy dressings in favor of lighter vinaigrettes. But classic vinaigrettes often use a 3-to-1 or 4-to-1 ratio of fat to acid (for example: olive oil and red wine vinegar). Such a ratio can yield at least 10 grams of fat per tablespoon! And who uses just one tablespoon?

So what constitutes a healthy salad dressing?

Let’s look at oil.

When choosing oils for your dressing, think carefully about flavors. Extra-virgin olive oil is almost always an excellent healthful and flavorful choice. But so are nut oils such as almond, macadamia and hazelnut. Each contributes complex yet subtle flavors that can complement a salad. Olive and nut oils also are rich in healthy monounsaturated fats.

You can reduce the amount of oil, however, in any dressing by approximately 40 percent if the other ingredients that balance the dressing are not too acidic.

A common complaint when reducing the oil content of a dressing recipe is that one often misses the thick texture that oil adds to your recipes. Try adding Dijon mustard as an emulsifier to make up for the reduced oil. Like oil, mustard is thick enough to bind the other ingredients and adds a tangy flavor.

In creamy dressings, the emulsifier often is sour cream or mayonnaise (and sometimes oil, too). Providing a healthy option for these ingredients is an easy fix.

Nonfat yogurt, reduced-fat sour cream, and reduced-fat mayonnaise all make good substitutes. They each have good flavor and produce dressings that hold together and coat vegetables quite well.

Or try buttermilk. Buttermilk is always either nonfat or reduced-fat. Its thick texture and mild, tangy flavor makes it a useful ingredient.

With a little bit of ingenuity and creativity, it is possible to make healthy salad dressings without sacrificing good nutrition by cutting calories, fat and chemicals.

Torn Rotator Cuff Symptoms

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Rotator cuff tears are a very common type of injury and the adult population, that occur especially after the year 40 or so. Although at times rotator cuff tears are caused by a fall or some other trauma to the shoulder area, more often they are caused by repetitive stress syndrome, an injury over time that occurs by doing things like repetitive lifting of heavy objects over the head. The rotator cuff is made up of four muscles and their corresponding tendons, that began in the area of the shoulder blade and continue up over the shoulder forming a covering or cuff.

Torn rotator cuff symptoms can vary from person to person, however for the most part in the case of those that suffer from a torn rotator cuff due to repetitive stress syndrome the symptoms are gradual and can develop over a long period of time. Typically at the beginning the pain is easily managed using aspirin or some other over-the-counter pain medication, after some time, however, it generally becomes necessary to seek medical advice because the pain becomes unmanageable. In the case of a fall or some other sudden trauma to the shoulder area the pain is generally set and acute, and can’t be accompanied by a snapping noise and sudden weakness in the arm.

A person with a torn rotator cuff may have several options in order to get better. These options could include resting the arm for a long period of time, at mobilizing the arm by the use of a sling, shoulder surgery, or perhaps some therapeutic exercises that are done either at home or in the presence of a qualified therapist.

First Steps To MLM Success

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Let’s face it, most network marketers don’t make it. Why? Because they are like search lights out there prospecting in their boats in stormy seas, trying to save people from financial ruin one person at a time. We teach you how to do it differently. We teach you how to become a Lighthouse Marketer, attracting people into your business.

OK, here it is. Absolutely free information, real information, First Steps to getting started successfully in your MLM business.

PART I - Find the best company for you.

First, the most important thing is to find a company that is right for you. You have to ask yourself several questions. Does the product stand-alone? If there were no financial opportunity would you still use the product? Do people want it? Will they use? Is it a unique product or just a passing fad? Is it consumable? In other words is it a one-time buy or are your customers going to use it up and buy it over and over again? Can you honestly tell people this product has improved your life?

Second, is the company solid? How long have they been around? Are they financially stable? Are they here to stay, and what background and experience to the leaders have? In this business, reputation and honesty can be, should be, everything.

Third, is it affordable to the average person? Let’s face it, there are many great companies out there, but when you have to write a check for $500 to $2000 just to get started, that seriously limits recruiting. People will often put up $35 to $50 for a product and opportunity, but when you start asking for hundreds or even thousands of dollars, that is a different story entirely. Don’t misunderstand me. I am not saying that some of these companies are not great. I’m just saying that it seriously limits your participating audience. Believe me, I have been there.

Fourth, does the company provide the tools for you to succeed? Is great training provided for free on a regular basis? Are there things like frequent live training calls, replicated websites, affordable account managing tools that provide such services as auto-e-mail responding and lead tracking? Can you build a down line using the Internet and train your new recruits over the phone and on your company website, or does everything have to be done in person? Believe me, person to person is a great way to do business. It is just not practical any longer in this business. Weekly hotel meetings, home parties, or just going from friends house to friends house with a DVD are things of the past. Not only will you probably not be very successful at your business, but your friends and family will start to avoid you. Take my word for it. Been there.

There are many aspects to success in the MLM business, but first and foremost, find a great company with:

1.Products that are consumable
2.Solid Foundation
3.Affordability to all
4.The Tools to do the job

PART II - Invest in yourself.

Once you find the right company, you need to work on yourself. Get your mind right. The best way to start educating yourself is by reading. Read one chapter a day from a list of recommended self-help or motivational books. One chapter a day isn’t hard to do and it is retained easier than trying to cram in as much as possible. At the end of a year, you will have absorbed a vast amount of knowledge that can be invaluable to your life and to your business.

Be a listener. Make it a point to listen to a successful person for at least 20 minutes a day. It can be a CD, DVD, or a live or recorded training call, any source of information to help further educate you in your marketing venture. Twenty minutes a day is very easy to do. Everyone spends at least that much time driving or riding in a car every day. Put that CD player to good use.

Every ninety days or so get out and see a live speaker. There are always inspiring speakers appearing somewhere for relatively little money. If you live in a small town where this never happens, make a weekend of it! Take a group or simply a companion and go to the big city, eat some good food, attend the event, and soak it all in. Nothing is quite as inspiring and motivating as a live event full of successful people sharing their story.

These three things are so very easy to do. They are even easier not to do. Everyday you are either moving forward or falling back. You decide. You have to commit. I have seen so many people get into this business thinking it is going to be easy money. Haven’t we all been to those hotel or dining room meetings where the guy making a million dollars tells everyone how easy it is and how by just sharing this idea with a few friends and family, he became financially independent, and debt free and how he and everyone else there is going to help you do the same thing!

It is easy to see why so many people get into this business, spend hundreds, even thousands of dollars, thinking it is a get-rich-quick plan. Why, you would think it is damn near like hitting the lottery! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!

Nothing worth having is given to you. That includes your business and your down line. It all falls on you. It is your business. You have to build it. You are responsible for its success or failure. Don’t misunderstand me. It is not difficult. It just takes a determination and effort and a stick-to-it attitude that many people simply do not have or do not realize they need and they soon quit and fall by the wayside when success is not immediate. Think of it like this. Many people spend the majority of their life building a successful business. The bigger and more successful their business becomes, the harder they have to work and more of their time is required. If you will diligently work and market a good MLM product, within a relatively short period of time, you can build a business with a down line that will provide you with a comfortable income for the rest of your life while you put in just a few hours a week. Depending on your perseverance and willingness to work, you can become financially independent with time freedom in a one to five year period. Just seek out the seekers and leave the non-believers to go along their merry way.

There are many good people out there who are willing to help you. You just have to find them. There are also many out there who say they will help you, but in the end, just want to sell you something. Be careful. These companies are like everything else. They range from down right lousy to great. Be wise. Ask questions. If the answers to all your questions are vague or are always answered with another question, run the other way. It’s OK if the other person doesn’t know all the answers as long as they can tell you where to find them. A knowledgeable, helpful up line is invaluable. I know that if I help my team succeed, the rest will take care of itself. Happy marketing!

Why She Is Having Sex With You, But Thinking About Him?

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Does your woman ever tell you about a lost love. Do her friends ever tell you how good John was to her? Well she could be thinking of him and sleeping with you.

Why would that be the case?

  1. Her was a better lover. He know exactly how to please her. He was skilled in the knowledge of having sex. Some guys are not ??good guys?, but if the sex is good, that will keep him on her mind. Maybe he did her favorite move. Maybe he did something that you wont. Whatever it is, he did it well enough for her to remember.
  2. Meet her needs. Maybe he met her needs outside the bedroom. These could be financial, emotional or other. Find out what they are and then make sure that your are taking care of them.
  3. More Exciting. Maybe he was more exciting than you are. That is the biggest complaints that women have a nice guys is that they are boring. Women like a sense of adventure and excitement. Most men could do the same thing everyday the same way.
  4. More Trust. Did she trust him more than she trust you? Did you do something to break that trust. This is the one that only time can heal. Continue to be trustworthy. Keep her secrets and earn her trust. So she will forget about that old lover.

Don??t be satisfied with half a woman. If your woman??s body is physically with you, but her mind is on the other side of town, you are missing out on the best part of her. If you only care about the sex, then it is not a problem. If you care about the relationship make sure that you are getting the full person.

How do you find out if this is the case? Make sure that you visit my website for the 3 questions you need to ask to how you stack up against her best lover ever.

Remember the best way to make this happen is by finding a woman that is looking for sex already. This is the best place that I have found for women looking for sex

How To Lose 10 Pounds In 3, 4, or 5 Days - 2 Weight Loss Strategies

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

If you want to lose 10 pounds in 3 or 4 days you need to know that this is a very complicated task and may not be the healthiest thing in the world. I’d have to say that the chances of you succeeding in losing that much weight in such a short time are very slim, but it can be theoretically be done.

I’m going to share two ways in which this can be done. Be aware that you need to be careful when pursuing this kind of weight loss because you will be experiencing a massive calorie deficit for the 3, 4, or 5 days in which you want to lose these 10 pounds.

Ready? Ok, let’s go.

In order to create the calorie deficit required to lose 10 pounds in 3, 4, or 5 days, you’ll need to either massively cut down your calorie intake or to greatly increase your physical activity to a very high level, or a combination of the two.

1. If you want to concentrate on physical activity, you’ll need to spend a lot of hours doing aerobic exercises and cutting down on your carb and sugar intake. A good idea would be to go on a hiking and camping trip. Hiking keeps you moving through the day for hours on end burning tons of calories. Camping keeps you away from your fridge and all the fatty food in it. You should take only lean foods with you on your trip and to make sure that your hiking is intensive.

2. If you want to stay at your home and not go on a trip, be aware that nutrition alone will not be enough to create the necessary deficit to lose 10 pounds in such a short time, but you may be able to do with less intensive exercise than hiking. Going on a juice based detox diet like the master cleanse diet will allow you to lose weight very fast.

Be aware, that none of these 2 measures is good for a long length of time. You may also feel very tired at the end of the 3-5 days in which you try to lose 10 pounds. To increase your chances of success, it is also advisable to combine either of these 2 ways with some sort of appetite dperessant to help you avoid any extra calories.

In my mind trying to lose 10 pounds in 3,4, or 5 days isn’t a smart thing to do because such a drastic weight loss isn’t very healthy and it’s not easy to maintain this sort of weight loss.

Personally, I don;t recommend trying to lose 10 pounds in such a short time. It is much better to give yourself at least 2 weeks to lose 10 pounds. If you have that kind of time, I recommend using the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet. To read a review of this diet, click here: How To Lose 9 Pounds Every 11 Days With Fat Loss 4 Idiots

Andy Warhol’s Cats & Dogs

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

In 1954, Andy Warhol, a renowned cat lover, published a series of 25 cat portraits in book form. Printed on limited edition, hand-colored Arches watermarked paper, the prints were privately printed and made as a Christmas keepsake. He named his book 25 Cats Name Sam and One Blue Pussy. He had originally meant it to read “… Named Sam” but his mother, who did the lettering, left off the “d” and Warhol thought that the final version was fine.

In the 1950s, Warhol bought a brownstone where he and his mother resided. And, although they had owned cats for twenty years, his series of cat portraits were not based on the cats he lived with and knew. Instead, they were based on the photographs of New York Cat Photographer Walter Chandoha.

In the 1970s, Warhol ’s interest with cats faded and his interest in dogs rose. His boyfriend decided they should get a short-haired Dachshund puppy. They named the dog “Archie”. Warhol became so enthralled with Archie that he became his alter ego. As he held Archie during interviews, when Warhol did not want to answer a particular question, he would simply deflect the questions to Archie. Warhol took the dog everywhere - to his studio, to art openings, to dinner, to photo shoots, and to London when his work took him there.

When Archie was almost three, another Dachshund came into the picture. This dog, they called “Amos”. The three of them got along famously. Amos and Archie would run around the townhouse barking, chasing and playing with one another while providing constant entertainment for Warhol. All was well, except now Archie would stay at home with his newfound friend Amos instead of gallivanting the city with Warhol.

In 1976, the art collector Peter Brant commissioned Andy Warhol to paint his Cocker Spaniel named Ginger. Andy made two paintings of Ginger, as well as drawings. Peter Brant liked these so much that he thought Warhol should do a whole series of cat and dog drawings. Andy liked the idea too. It would open up a new area of commission portraits and would give him a chance to use Archie and Amos in his work. All he lacked was a cat that would fit the modeling mold.

Warhol liked to work from photographs. He had a difficult time staging his pets and having them remain still. He decided to use stuffed animals for his first cat and dog photos. Vincent Fremont at Artnet called the finished paintings of these stuffed creatures “spooky and macabre”. The paintings; however, that Warhol completed from photographs of cats and dogs are said to be vibrant and infused with personality.

After some time he began dabbling in other arts, including underground films that explored the shock value of nudity, greed, and sexuality. In 1976, after his hiatus from regular, mainstream art pursuits, Peter Brant arranged for Warhol’s dog and cat series to be shown in New York and in London.

After Warhol’s period of drawing and painting cats and dogs, he started on artistic renditions for Campbell soup cans and his focus on pop-culture as seen in his works centered around Marilyn Monroe. After his mother’s death, Warhol became more distant from the public’s eye. Warhol left his diaries behind that were later published into a book. While many say his entries are “mundane”, those who study his art find that they leave a history - a post-modern history much reflective of his beliefs, ties to, and a life dedicated to explorative arts.

Rumors, Wild Parties and Women Traveling Alone on Cruise Ships, True or False?

Monday, March 17th, 2008

The rumor is cruise ships have wild parties?

True or False?

It depends on who you ask.

If you are middle age and want to retire to your cabin by 11:00 PM, there will be hundreds of couples who will be doing the same thing.

If you are a night owl and want to party half the night (or, in some cases, all night) you will have a lot of company.

If you choose to gamble in the Las Vegas style casino half-the night- no problem, its open.

If you are hungry after the nightly entertainment, no problem, there is a 24 hour buffet with international delights.

If you are a computer geek and need to go online, visit the Internet cafe.

If you want to sit on your private balcony and watch the stars, this too, is a popular option alone with room service and after dinner delights and spirits.

I am not sure if wild parties occur, the only evidence I have is the late breakfast crowd who wear sun glasses during breakfast!

So the answer to the question has to be, if you are looking for a wild party, I am sure you can find one. If you are looking for peace, relaxation, time for reflection, romance, second honeymoon or even a honeymoon atmosphere, you can find that too.

Second Rumor: A Lot of Single Women Cruise.

True.

Cruises are an excellent vacation for women traveling alone. More and more women can afford luxury vacations; however, they don’t take the vacations because they don’t have a travel partner. This excuse does not hold water any more. There were dozens and dozens of single women traveling alone on all the cruises I have taken in the past 5 years.

Women traveling alone have several options for meals, some women sit alone in the formal dinning room and read a book, while others, order room service to their cabin. Others sit at tables that are organized as people enter the formal dinning room. Many single travelers, men and women go to the 24 hour buffet. Its much more relaxed and you have, in my opinion a lot more choices in food selection.

For those of you who need more activity late into the night, yet do not want to join the party crowd, take your lap top and bring video CDs for movies you have always wanted to see. Most ships have TVs with satellite hookups; and you can usually find a movie or two on TV.

As for the Shore Excursions, being alone is no problem, this is where you see the true value of your trip. You travel in groups and it is always suggested that you stay with the group. You meet so many wonderful people that you won’t have a problem meeting people who have your same interest.

For most cruise lines you can set up appointments for the spa and registrations for shore excursions, online before your cruise departs. This is highly recommended, because the spa books up quickly and so do a lot of the popular shore excursions.
