Mountain Biking In Florida - Thunderous Applause For Hot Trails

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Mountain biking in Florida offers some outstanding “off-road” biking trails. Year-round riding is possible, although Spring and Fall are the most pleasant periods for casual bikers.

Part of the fun of mountain biking in Florida is the unpredictable weather. A thunderstorm can turn a sandy trail into churning mud within minutes. The heat will be a constant companion. You are also likely to do battle with mosquitoes and other bugs for ownership of the trail.

Nonetheless, mountain biking in Florida is enjoyable and scenic.

One of the best trails is in the Blackwater River State Forest. There is no designated biking route in this 183 000 acre forest, but there is a 14 mile trail on a doubletrack service road that covers an area between Coldwater and Dixon creeks. The sandy surface is most challenging during dry weather, although rain on the trail brings its own difficulties… This will be confirmed on more than one occasion, while mountain biking in Florida.

In East Jacksonville, a series of trails begins near the corner of Beach Blvd. and Kernan Blvd. The terrain is mostly rolling hills, although it varies quite a bit, with twisting rough cut singletrack trails that are ideal for the more advanced and technical rider.

Another area to visit while mountain biking in Florida, is around the Oleta River area north of Miami. This is a six mile singletrack trail. It is well marked according to level of the rider. It is best to start with an easy trail to test your skills, and then step up the level if you want more of a challenge.

These trails are dedicated to cyclists, so there are no hikers or oncoming traffic to consider. This allows you to ride as fast and tight as you want, although with mud, sand and slippery obstacles, it is may be wise to exercise some caution!

For a different experience of mountain biking in Florida, follow the narrow sandy track of the Grayton Beach Recreational Park Mountain Bike Trail. It meanders through interesting, dense vegetation for about 4 miles, and is quiet and easy - making for an ideal vacation ride.

You are not done with mountain biking in Florida, until you have been on the Razorback trail in Reddick. Rated as in the top 50 in America, this is intermediate to advanced riding at its best! The 10 mile loop will test your stamina, your reflexes, and your courage. There is a less demanding beginner loop of about 6 miles. Kids will feel at home on their own mile long loop. The Razorback is about 20 minutes from Santos Trails.

Mountain biking in Florida, particularly the north central region, can be packed into a 6 day trip if you have the stamina. The 327 mile Florida Springs Bicycle Tour is one way of doing this. Covering 10 parks and a forest, the rural roads will lead you to spectacular areas, including the Suwannee River.

For a great guide to mountain biking in Florida, read the revised edition of ‘Mountain Bike! Florida’ by Steve Jones. More than 300 action-packed pages will give you an overview of all the classic trails in the area. The maps and photos will help you to plan your trip. More than 80 trails are covered.

There’s no leaving this sunshine state, until you can say that you have been mountain biking in Florida!

How Nonprofit Organizations Can Raise Money Online with a Squidoo Lens

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Is your nonprofit organization doing fundraising online?

If the answer is no, this is something that you should be looking into. There are many types of online fundraising methods, and a new and innovative way, is by creating a lens on the Squidoo.com website.

Most internet marketers are aware of Squidoo.com and many are creating lenses on Squidoo as a way of building links and bringing visitors to their websites. However, one of the original purposes of Squidoo, according to founder Seth Godin, was to provide a way for charities and nonprofit organizations to spread awareness of their cause and raise money, on the internet.

What exactly is a Squidoo lens?

A lens is simply a webpage on Squidoo.com that is built to serve as a guide on a specific topic. The page contains relevant information about the topic and links to other places on the internet where more information can be found.

Squidoo is similar to a search engine, such as Google, but, according to Godin, it acts as an intermediary to search engines by giving people the “big picture” view on a given topic. When people perform a search for information on Squidoo the result is a lens on the topic instead of a list of links that you would get with a Google search. Squidoo is also similar to MySpace; however, Godin calls Squidoo “social databasing” as opposed to “social networking.”

How can nonprofit organizations and charities benefit from Squidoo.com?

Anyone can build a Squidoo lens, for free, on any topic they are knowledgeable or passionate about. “Everyone is an expert” says Godin. At time of this writing there are over 70,000 lenses written by Squidoo lensmasters, as they are called.

Nonprofit organizations and charities may build a lens and provide information about their cause or mission. The lens can contain links to the charity’s website, logos, RSS feeds, just about anything relevant to the topic or organization can be included in the lens.

Each lens automatically has Google advertisements placed on it. Every lens gets a share of the royalties earned from the Google ads. Another way to earn money is to sell items as an affiliate of Amazon, eBay, or Cafe Press. For example, if your organization creates t-shirts on Café Press, you can feature them on your Squidoo lens and earn money from the sales.

In addition to creating a lens, nonprofit organizations may register and be added to the Squidoo database of charities. Once your organization is registered, other lensmasters can then choose to donate their earnings to your account, thereby adding another way for your organization to raise money. Almost one-half of the lensmasters donate their royalties to the registered charities. As of this writing, there are less than one hundred charities registered, so this is a good time get your charity involved.

Ask your supporters to create a lens instead of asking for money.

There is no limit to the number of lenses that can be built on a topic. As a way of raising awareness and increasing involvement in your cause, ask your supporters to visit your lens and then build one of their own. Do this instead of asking for monetary donations and see what your results are. With a network of lenses, each earning a couple of dollars a day, your organization could be earning a nice sum of money every month.

It is not difficult to build a lens on Squidoo. You do not need any programming skills and there is plenty of information on the site to help you get started. If you are wondering how the name Squidoo came to be, it is because squid have large eyes, and it is a current trend that successful tech companies’ have names with “oo” in them. Think Yahoo and Google.

If you are a member of a nonprofit organization or charity, you should visit the Squidoo.com website and see what other nonprofits are doing with their lenses. Take advantage of this opportunity to establish an online fundraising campaign.

Coach Reveals The Truth About Self Hypnosis and Personal Growth

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

Only when all 7 aspects are in harmony does your subconscious mind (your auto achievement pilot) pour out your unlimited potential almost without any greater effort on your part at all, and your body becomes naturally balanced, calm, and stress free.

To begin with, you have several bodies, all connected together.

1 Let’s agree that you have a Physical body, the foundation upon which everything sits - the vehicle that houses your awareness. Remember, you’re body’s a temple, but it’s also a nightclub!

2 Above that is the Emotional Body, the seat of your unconscious processes and the source of your memories and emotions. The emotional body is magnetic, and attracts people with similar emotions e.g. Anger management groups. Protesters.

3 Next you have the Mental Body - the rational, thinking Conscious Mind, and usually with an area of interest or a field of knowledge that it specialises in. The mental body likes stimulation, deep and meaningful discussion, debate and new ideas.

4 Last but by no means least comes the Spiritual Body, the super conscious mind and your connection with whatever is higher and bigger than you. The Spiritual body attracts like minded souls, such as in gathering to worship, or a “calling”, or you reading this bookâ?¦

Now hereâ??s the second secret - you are of three minds. Our ancestors used to teach this, as the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Ever wonder why it’s in that order? This trinity is present in every tradition on the planet. The Pope’s cross has 3 horizontal bars, the Cardinal’s only two, and the Priests only has one. Hmmm. Or the Lovers Card in the Major Arcana of the Tarot Cards. There’s a man (conscious mind) looking at a woman (unconscious mind), but she’s looking above him at an angel (higher self) which he can’t see.

5 You probably know that you have a conscious mind, don’t you? The part of you that answered - that was it! It likes experience, knowledge, mental power, analysis and rationality. It also likes respect, admiration, significance and success. It’s focussed on specifics, likes order and sequence, and it usually kicks in at about age five. Unfortunately, it’s also an expert in denying and avoiding pain.

6 The Conscious Mind thinks, “I am”. But you also have an unconscious Mind with feelings, “I feel”. (The mind that controls all subconscious activity within your body and the actions and non-actions that you find yourself taking or not taking). It runs your body, beats your heart, stores your memories, controls your emotions. It’s sometimes called the “body/mind”. It’s like a timid animal with basic desires and a mental age of about five years old. It adores food, clothes, security, sex, fun, the five senses and safety. It has no words. You always know you’re really at the unconscious level when you have no words for the feelings you’re experiencing. Any time you criticise yourself, you’re criticising your unconscious mind. Society likes to keep you out of here - men are taught to be unemotional, therapists will help you manage your anger (rather than clear it up completely) and prescription drugs suppress your true feelings. They’re still there, you just can’t feel them. So the next time a red light appears on your car dashboard, just paint black paint over it. It’s still a problem, but at least you can’t see it.

7 Many believe you have a third self, the Higher Conscious Mind also, with still more, higher functions, such as wisdom, order, justice, ecology, peace, truth, perfection and evolution. (Your connection to your true unlimited and infinite self). It looks down at you like a totally trustworthy parent gazing lovingly on a perfect child (you). It creates anything that you ask for, (whether you dwell on good things or bad).

The majority of counselling interventions, analysis, positive thinking and reading books are only Mental, Conscious actions. Thatâ??s only 2/7ths of the picture. Advanced change techniques like autosuggestion, meditation, Hypnosis and NLP tap into still just 4/7ths of the individual, by also accessing the unconscious mind and emotional body. Psyched up, high adrenaline motivational seminars actually make you less effective by actually keeping you out of the very areas that would stimulate change. And they are emotional states that few people can recreate in their everyday lives, unless they spend more money becoming seminar-junkies. Spiritual practices often only deal with the Spiritual aspect of the person and the Higher Conscious Mind. Again only 2/7ths of the picture. If they involve fasting, retreats or rituals then they activate four, i.e. the physical body and emotional body.

This is why they havenâ??t worked wholly for you.

Any of these methods taken in isolation leave you short-changed, unable to make the changes you hoped for. Itâ??s like putting a tractor tyre on a Ferrari â?” you end up with an imbalanced car that is highly unstable, is difficult to stop, burns fuel wastefully, is dangerous to drive and will spend most of its time going in circlesâ?¦

Get all 7 in harmony, suddenly, in the most natural way, life starts to come together. Love starts to blossom. Money starts to pour in. Abilities start to sharpen dramatically and produce greater fruitage. Energy starts to rise. Health starts to improve. Coincidences start to multiply. Try it and see!

How To Make Foreplay Work Better (Part 2)

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Foreplay is probably the most important part of the entire love making experience. Foreplay is the actions that come before intercourse. Men or women, it doesnâ??t matter, foreplay is used for arousal, making the experience better and to add variety into your sex life. This article will be broken into two parts. One will be dedicated to the men and the second to the women.

6. Talk To Her

Women need you to have open and caring conversations with them. They need to hear the words out of your mouth. Donâ??t make the mistake of over embellishing your conversation. You just want to tell them that you love them or missed them and this will be the right direction into bringing her over the edge.

7. Hear What She Is Saying

Women donâ??t just want you to hear them but rather they need you to listen to them. They also need to hear you. They want to listen to you. They donâ??t want short answers to their problems but rather some one who will sit down with them and have an intelligent conversation. This might not seem very sexual but to women this makes for very intimate moments.

8. She Loves To Be Touched

Women love it when you touch them in non sexual ways. To them it shows closeness and security. You want to hold their hands or give them a hug. If they know everything doesnâ??t have to lead to bedroom activity then when it does that will be so much better. When youâ??re watching television and you play with her hair it makes her feel like you will be there forever.

9. She Loves To Kiss

Women love kissing. To them there is no more of a turn on then nice romantic kissing. You donâ??t want to get to crazy at first with the tongue action and what not. She will dictate what she wants and how hard she wants to be kissed. Slowly you can add more passion. The best thing to do when it comes to this is to follow her lead and she will show you how she wants to be kissed.

10. The Next Step

Of course we want the kissing to lead to the next stage but be careful not to get to forceful. There is going to be time between the kissing and the next stage but thatâ??s okay. The more that you show her the love and caress the more turned on she will be. Women get very excited as well but they just show it in different ways.

This is a simple list of tips that can possibly help you and your spouse in the bedroom. This by no means is meant to be tacky or dirty. Every day millions and millions of couples make love without foreplay. Donâ??t be scared to add foreplay to your bedroom experience and see what it does for the entire love making experience.

11 Common Reasons For Team-Building

Friday, March 21st, 2008

In 24 years of team building with groups I have interviewed many executives as they contemplate the decision to hold some type of team development program. From shorter, lighter, fun programs to in-depth interventions for really stuck teams the goals for team building vary widely or can often be inadequately defined.

Most clients are not team building experts and so speak of the symptoms of bad teamwork; lack of communication, lack of trust, redundancy of effort, or lack of progress where it is needed most because this or that work group is not â?˜getting alongâ??. It is often a very helpful process for them to have the consultant help define specifically what the issues really are and what desired alternatives for teamwork might be possible. I often help my clients figure out what is really going on with the team and what it is that they really want rather than the way they are treating one another today.

The following are some of the most common reasons organizations cite for participating in a team-building program:

1) Have Fun

For whatever reasons some group just wants to have fun. Although almost any team experience can also be used as a valuable teamwork learning opportunity, sometimes fun is the objective. Organizations may already have detailed training and development programs in place and want a â?˜break from it allâ?? or just want to have a good party, nothing more. Sometimes this is influenced by the culture of the organization and weak or immature leadership. Without passing judgment here, it is worth mentioning that a high energy shared experience has many positive benefits such as : seeing one another in a different light than at work, creating a relaxed atmosphere where people might be more comfortable talking to someone at a different level in the organization, or bonding with one another because of some kind of shared activity like a softball game. If expectations for building teamwork are low and outcomes are not defined some longer term benefits will undoubtedly occur, but not necessarily the highest priority benefits that a work group might need.

2) Get everyone together, have a shared experience

Often planned by the well meaning, shared experiences hopefully take into account the comfort and participation level of each person. Rock climbing, for example, might be an intense trust building exercise for some, where it is an embarrassing reminder of oneâ??s lack of physical condition for another. The motivation here is one of defining the group culture and anchoring a sense of identity by doing something together. Typically, this might involve participating in entertainment together, corporate Olympics or company picnic type events, going on a dinner cruise together etc.. Any activity where everyone is together in the same place doing more or less the same thing can help anchor the idea of â?˜the unitâ?? or â?˜the groupâ??. This is not a very sophisticated objective but many companies are reticent to search for deeper meaning or learning because they fear the cultural push-back of not doing something â?˜cool enoughâ?? to keep each clique and faction happy. There is of course, no limit to spending money on extravagant events but many of these provide little in the way of long term intrinsic benefit to the team when everyone returns to the â?˜same way of working togetherâ?? the next week. These types of events are almost like bribes to keep the worker happy, rather than opportunities to learn and become better as a team.

3) Celebrate Recent Achievements

Although similar to number 2 above, this type of team event actually has more structure and content and serves a very useful purpose for the team. Key points include:

-Acknowledging that everyone has been working hard, validating the rationale for asking a lot from workers on a regular basis.

-Acknowledge that the plan has worked and the goals have been reached. This inspires belief in leadership and engenders support and belief that future initiatives will also be successful.

-Gives credit and recognition to those who deserve it. Most employees crave acknowledgment for the contributions they make and relish being treated as a valuable contributor to the group.

-Builds a sense of identity as a team member of a strong, capable and successful team.

4) Presented or Perceived as a Workplace/Company Benefit

Once again, a â?˜perkâ?? for working in a particular company might be a luxurious travel trip or junket that could be called team building, when in reality it is a personal benefit many employees look forward to because of the great meals, resort hotel and far away location. Some work cultures routinely provide these types of benefits but few have real beneficial teambuilding structure. More often they are filled with additional sales or technical training or are used to unveil next yearâ??s goals- ever more aggressive and demanding than the last, which are supposed to go down with the spoonful of sugar that the luxurious junket serves to provide. Re-calculating next yearâ??s sales or production goals with team building doesnâ??t always mix.

5) Interact with Senior Management, Key Customers or Vendors

Sometimes team building is a good way to force interaction with the objective of solidifying relationships. This might seem a little ingenuous at first, but well structured team building programs are actually a great way to deepen business relationships, which must first be acceptable personal relationships. A shared experience such as a ropes course or team initiative exercises can open up and stimulate all kinds of interactions and discussion that bring people closer together. Deepening communication and collaboration, learning about one anotherâ??s leadership and decision making styles, and exploring strategic approaches to quality and improvement in fun ways together can make for stronger teamwork throughout the value chain.

6) Build Communication Within the Team

Every group can do better with their communication with one another. It is the most common objective for team building and is nearly always at the heart of what coworkers want to do better when they get back to work. Modeling group communication skills should be woven into all great team building programs.

7) Cooperation/Collaboration between two groups

This is a very common rationale for team building programs and should be used more often, particularly where two work groups or departments form vital parts of the value chain such as sales and production, or engineering and marketing. Each group needs to better understand the demands and capabilities of the other and to work towards a realistic set of expectations that creates both efficiency and a way of operating that everyone can live with- especially the customer. Sometimes a lot of healing and conflict resolution will need to take place with a healthy dose of getting everyone enrolled in better possibilities for getting things done in the future.

8) Merger or Acquisition

When the dynamics and infrastructure of an organization changes everyone wonders how it will affect them. Once they get past the question of whether or not they will still have a job, the next logical questions cluster around what will be each employees roles and responsibilities, and how will things be different on a day to day basis? Workers need assurances. Will the status quo be maintained or will there be sweeping policy and procedure changes? How will changes be introduced? Calling this team building is really a stretch, but often the need is to get everyone together and communicate a new approach or philosophy and hopefully, integrate operations and new requirements quickly for no loss in production. It is a classic organizational challenge, but one that can be made smoother with a well designed team building program. After all, the new must integrate with the old with the result of a better and more capable result.

These team-building programs must be designed carefully.

9) New Management/Leadership

Many military groups are cursed by a changing command every two years or so. Each new commander strives to make his/her mark and make a unique difference that has never been seen before. These commanders know that they need to establish a new pace and climate quickly, coalesce the high influencers and important departments into an even more effective machine and direct the machine towards the achievement of ever more ambitious goals. Every one involved dreads the integration of a new commander and does their best to remain under the radar so as not to get noticed or focused upon as an opportunity for improvement or change. The private sector lacks the role specificity and rigidity of structure characteristic of the military but makes up for it in political intrigue and the introduction of complexity and lack of humanness.

Integrating new leadership and a â?˜new approachâ?? is a great reason to undertake a team-building program. For success the key is to focus on what works already, the voice of the worker, readiness for change, and consensus on areas that need improvement, rather than some disconnected and ambitious management by objectives approach by an executive who hasnâ??t been there and done that. A humble new manager that listens rather than tells, that strives to understand rather than redefines, who use subtlety rather than dictate to institute a new rhythm will use a team building program for one of itâ??s highest potential benefits.

10) Pull together for a new strategy and new direction

When this motivation is genuine it can be very powerful. Hopefully top management knows where they are going before asking everyone to jump on the new bandwagon with them. They need to have definitive plans and be unequivocal about their commitment. In this case the message to employees and workers is one of engendering the motivation to support the leadership who knows how to work their way out of the current situation or crisis. These type of team building initiatives will fall on deaf ears if they are not well thought out and well executed. The core of the message sent to employees in this situation is that we will pull together to weather this crisis and we will support each other and work together to get it done. Employees quickly see through disingenuous lip service and lack of commitment from key executives who donâ??t put their money where their mouth is and lead with their own example.

11) The dysfunctional group

Dysfunctional groups are made up of dysfunctional individuals, thus requiring a series of individual behavioral changes that will need to take place for the group to change itâ??s modus operandi. This is truly an artful process involving very sophisticated approaches to get the group to want to commit to a new approach, to see something in t for them individually and collectively to operate differently together, and to let go of ego-based defenses and negative behaviors that disrupt the smooth functioning of the work group.

Usually, the dysfunctional nature of this work group is costing the company a lot of money and frustrating everyone around them. And also, most in the organization are scared to confront the obvious, challenge unproductive behaviors and demand these individuals to elevate themselves to a higher standard for the well being of all concerned.

Because of â?˜who they areâ?? in the organizational hierarchy, the issues are treated like political hot potatoes or spoken about in hushed tones or overly sensitive terms, rather than being labeled as the immature, unprofessional inefficient and ridiculous behaviors that they are. Everyone agrees that there is a better way of operating out there if they would only open themselves up to the possibility. Herein lies the rub. Facilitating commitment to move beyond the current state to a better future state is the entire purpose of the team building experience, and it takes very skilled and professional handling. Like a delicate baby chick emerging from itâ??s shell, the possibility of a more satisfying way of operating needs to be handled gently. New ideas need to be carefully introduced and subscribed to with very specific expectations on everyoneâ??s part as to how they will happen. Overcoming a history of lack of trust and moving into a more collaborative, open and honest future together means that this decision and agreement must be seen to be made by each group member. Herein lies the finest art of facilitated team building. Often a group like this will require continued support for some time so as to be reminded of their commitment and so as not to backslide into old behavioral patterns.

Corporate team building programs can have varied goals or combination of goals and require a flexible, customized approach. The goal is results; a better functioning, more satisfied and productive work team, whether on the front line or at the top executive level. People are people at whatever level of the organization, and often need the power and leverage of a well designed team building program to remind them that they can indeed work together, and even in fact, enjoy it.

ADD - 5 Ways to Help Your ADD Child

Friday, March 21st, 2008

When you’re the linear-thinking parent of an ADD child, it’s difficult to relate to your child’s behaviors. You undoubtedly feel every pain of attention deficit, but maybe you aren’t quite sure how to deal with it, especially when you child is very young. If you’re an ADD parent of an ADD child, at least you can remember what being a kid with attention deficit was like, and maybe you’ve learned some ADD-friendly ways to cope with attention deficit that you can pass along. But then again, maybe you don’t even realize that you have attention deficit yourself. Well, whatever situation you find you belong in, here are a few tips to help:

1) Make things simple: Don’t send your kids into another room to get a pen, a piece of paper, and an envelope. They’ll forget at least one of the three and have to go back to get what they forgot. To save frustration, send them for one thing at a time. Because they can manage to come back with that one item, when they do, they’ll feel happy if you tell them what a great job they did. Rather than deflating their self-esteem, you’ll be pumping it up.

2) Get a game going: Try involving the whole family in this strategy. Make sure that people get extra points for positive behaviors, and that points are deducted when someone breaks a rule or doesn’t take their turn in the proper order.

3) Know your child’s teacher: Be sure to get all the pertinent information about your child’s classes at school. Ask for due dates of specific assignments, quizzes, and anything else that you child needs to remember.

4) Provide sanctuary: Your children suffer frustration every day, and it stems from within themselves, from their peers, and perhaps from their teachers. Allow them some downtime to unwind when they get home. Make sure that they have a room of their own or a special place they can go to be alone for a while to help them feel less stressed.

5) Make them feel successful: First, find out what your child is good at. It may take a while to decide what it is, but maybe they’re artists, musicians, or good with technology. Whatever that is, support them in that area and lavish praise on them when they do something well to boost their self-esteem.

You can use these 5 tips to help make your child’s life better, as well as your own. But it won’t happen overnight. You’ll have to be consistent in applying these techniques, and through a slow process will your child begin to improve. Some kids will be lucky enough to control the symptoms of attention deficit as they’re older. Some of them turn into ADD adults. Beating the Cold or Flu With Natural Homeopathic Methods

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Stuffy head, fever, body aches, cough; there is nothing fun about having the cold or flu. It is even less fun when that cold or flu hangs around, dragging you down and you canâ??t seem to shake it. Although modern western medicine has made great progress in curing many diseases, there still is no cure for the common cold. There are some alternative remedies, however, that can lessen the symptoms of cold and flu. They may even shorten the time that you are sick. Methods such as homeopathy, aromatherapy, and nutrition and diet therapy have helped many patients feel better faster.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy takes a more symptomatic approach to healing. When cold symptoms first appear, you can begin taking a homeopathic remedy. Try one remedy for several days, but if that particular remedy does not seem to work, stop that one and try another. Compare your symptoms to these:

- Glyconutrients are good for an immune boost! (http://www.ifoundHealth.com)

- Belladonna is helpful for headaches and high fevers.

- Selenium can be used if you have chills, are achy and fatigued, or have a sore throat!

- Nux vomica may help for irritability and a runny nose that is particularly congested at night.

- Bryonia is also great for many cold and flu symptoms, particularly irritability.

Aromatherapy

Certain scents released in a room or inhaled can help relieve you of cold and flu symptoms. Just remember that essential oils are very concentrated so go easy because just a couple of drops will usually do fine. Ravensare and niaouli have natural antiviral and anti-infectious properties. However, if you use either of these, you may want to add oil like rosewood, lemon, pine or eucalyptus. Ravensare and naiouli have somewhat medicinal smells so blending one of these sweeter smelling oils (that also have an antiseptic effect) can make it more pleasant. Inhale chamomile, eucalyptus and thyme to heal your throat and nasal passages and relieve a stuffy head. You can create an inhalant by placing a few drops of eucalyptus, lavender, revensar or tea tree oil on a small handkerchief and inhale it during the day. Wintergreen and peppermint are great for relieving nasal congestion.

Nutrition and Diet

Good nutrition can help your body ward off cold and flu as well as recover quickly. The important things to remember when you are combating a cold or flu are to make sure that you drink plenty of fluids. Water and fresh fruit juice are best and you want to make sure that you avoid drinks that act as diuretics. You also want to avoid milk and other dairy products because some studies have shown that there is a compound in milk that triggers the release of the chemical histamine in your body. This means that your nasal congestion and runny nose could be made worse. Stick to a diet that is mild such as light soups (yes, the tale about chicken soup is true!), broths, poached, lightly seasoned fish and salads. If you do not usually take a vitamin supplement, particularly vitamin C, you may want to take one during this time. Whether you are feeling sick or healthy, a good glyconutritional supplement with the proper formulation of the 8 glyconutrients may really give you an energy and immune boost that you notice!

To strenthen immune system function unlike anything else, try advanced glyconutrients

There are many books written on the health benefits of these special biological sugars, such as the book called Sugars That Heal

Do the Norwalk Juicer Rip And Squash

Friday, March 21st, 2008

The Norwalk Juicer is the personification of the beliefs of Dr. Norman W. Walker of the Norwalk Laboratories of Health Research, one of the first raw juice therapy experts.

Dr. Walker’s interest in helping others to incorporate a rejuvenating, raw food regimen into their lives, prompted the development of the original hydraulic press juicer almost a century ago. This machine later evolved into the Norwalk Juicer as it is known today.

As a triturator hydraulic press juicer, the Norwalk Juicer has a wide support base, both in design and on the world wide web. Many raw food advocates won’t hear of using anything other than their Norwalk, largely because of the rich history behind the juicer.

Let’s see what you can do with a juicer priced a bit on the steep side, compared to some of the standard models.

The Norwalk Juicer Model 270 combines what is called a vortex triturator with an hydraulic press. The former cuts and grinds, and the latter extracts all the nutritious goodies from the pulp.

The freshly pressed juice comes packed with loads of enzymes, vitamins, and trace minerals due to this extraction method, as less heat is generated in the process than with centrifugal juicers, such as the Breville.

This process also minimizes oxidation. Another advantage is that you will get at least 50% more juice, than with some of the standard juicers.

The robust Norwalk Juicer with its powerful 50/60 cycle motor, can be used anywhere in the world. The unit is constructed of solid stainless steel, and is made to withstand heavy usage. You will have no safety concerns while using the juicer.

The grid holder is easily accessible While processing. Your produce and other foods come into contact with stainless steel only. No plastic is used in this juicer! Apart from the stainless steel casing, there is also an attractive Pecan Woodgrain finish available.

There are varied opinions about how easy it is to assemble the different components of the Norwalk Juicer. As is often the case when it comes to extractors, the cleaning process also leads to a heated debate!

Norwalk converts are more than willing to allow for a bit of a learning curve to squeeze the most from their favorite juicer. And there certainly seems to be a wide variety of uses for the machine. If it is juiceable, the Norwalk is usable.

The juicer’s main function is to turn fruits and vegetables, including leafy greens, into nutrient-rich, pulp free juice. Additional features allow you to puree baby food, to mill flour, to make ground coffee, nut butters, perfectly chopped salads, and heavenly frozen desserts.

Use it to process cheese, grind pepper, and to make soup. If you love cereals, you will love your Norwalk. Combine your favorite, healthy mixtures of ground wheats, corn, oats, or any other grains. Even pets are catered for and can enjoy freshly ground food.

It really seems as if the Norwalk juicer does it all!

Every experienced juicer knows that those pesky leafy greens, such as spinach and wheat grass, present a challenge at times. While getting familiar with your Norwalk, and its love-hate relationship with greens, overheating may raise its ugly head. With a bit of practice, you will learn to juice carrots with the greens, or to experiment with a different grid.

However, if you don’t have patience for problems like clogging, overheating, or time-consuming cleaning, do some serious homework before you buy. If you and your Norwalk juicer are constantly at odds, it will do more harm than good, as far as your health is concerned!

Dr Walker wrote numerous books on nutrition, and juicing in particular. One of the most popular books is ‘Fresh Vegetables And Fruit Juices’. This was one of the first books about the therapeutic uses of juiced fruit and vegetables. It also lists the nutritional values of the different fruits and veggies.

His legacy also includes other books, such as ‘Vegetarian Guide To Diet And Salad’, ‘The Natural Way To Vibrant Health’, and ‘Become Younger’.

Dr. Walker probably couldn’t foresee the development of a world wide web, or a virtual Norwalk Juicer community with a fierce loyalty to his product.

He would have been pleased as punch!

Combating Food Cravings

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Food cravings can sabotage your weight loss efforts. Experts indicate that the most commonly craved foods are those with a high sugar and fat content, such as:

Chocolate
Ice Cream
Pizza
Potato Chips
Alcohol

Sugar has numerous detrimental effects on the body. Nancy Appleton, Ph.D. and author of LICK THE SUGAR HABIT has outlined 146 reasons why sugar is ruining your health.

Foods with high saturated fat and trans fats have a detrimental effect on the health. But not all fats are bad.

Medical News Today believes that sugar “addiction” is a sign of hunger, NOT a lack of control.

Tips for Dealing with Cravings

1. Eat small meals at regular intervals.

Eating smaller amounts of food more frequently (every 2-4 hours) will often stop cravings.

2. Eat protein and a little fat.

Protein and fat slow the release of carbohydrates into your bloodstream, thereby stabilizing your energy levels. Try to incorporate lean meats, low-fat dairy, or create a complete protein by properly combining legumes and rice etc. Healthy fats and oils improve nutrient absorption, boost immunity, and increase satiety at meals.

3. Reduce the stress in your life.

UCSF researchers have found that comfort food cravings are related to chronic stress.

4. Exercise.

Lack of exercise can contribute to stress. When you exercise your mood is elevated and you are less likely to crave foods. So if your cravings occur at specific times of the day or month, organize your exercise to coincide with these times.

5. Do not skip meals or restrict calories.

Restricting calories too much or skipping meals will put your body into a state of starvation, thereby causing you to crave starchy or sugary foods for quick energy.

6. Be sure to get enough quality sleep.

People who are chronically tired often overeat sugars and carbs for that quick boost.

7. Choose low glycemic load carbohydrates for optimum blood sugar control.

Diets with high glycemic loads (such as refined white flour and heavily processed foods or high sugar foods) cause your blood sugar levels to spike and then drop below normal. This yo-yo effect causes all sorts of problems for your mood and appetite - the perfect recipe for cravings.

8. Cut back on caffeine.

Caffeine seems to make cravings for sugar worse. Be aware of the caffeine content in such beverages as coffee, tea, and sodas. If you indulge, try cutting back.

9. Limit your salt and sugar intake.

Both salt and sugar can make your cravings worse. Limit the amount of sugar and salt that you consume. Beware of “hidden” salts and sugars found in processed or refined foods such as canned soup, breakfast cereal, soy sauce, candy sweets, cakes, cookies, ice cream, and regular soda.

10. Brush your teeth after eating.

Brushing your teeth after eating signals your brain that eating has stopped. Many foods don’t taste good after brushing your teeth. This strategy will help you eat less and keep that beautiful smile.

The Best Way to Earn Money Online - Part 1

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Having been an affiliate marketer, an MLM’er a membership site marketer and an Internet Marketer, I have concluded that passive income from Adsense is the best income of all. Whether you sell pills or magic potions, you have to deal with customers who need support, encouragement and handholding.

Handholding is a full time activity in MLM. I grew very tired of the whiners. I swore that the $8.91 cents that I earned from my MLM days would toward a bus ticket to get to my next full time less stressful career.

The obvious choice was to go online and sell digital products. However, the problem with ebooks is that everyone sells them. An ebook that sells for $47.00 today will be available on ebay tomorrow for .99. Another problem is the information and promises of quick income can get you in a lot of trouble. If the information does not create an instant millionaire, the customer send a nasty email to and calls you a huckster or says bad things about your loved one.

In order to stay abreast of the latest Internet Marketing schemes, you have to subscribe to hundreds of email list. Everyday some self-made guru sends you a seasoned email about the next great white hope program. But you don’t receive just one email about this great program, you get the same email announcing the same program from every guru whose list you have ever subscribed to.

I have grown very tired of the new launches of total junk in the Internet Marketing world. If I see the same face on another testimonial I will donate that face to science without the approval of that Internet Guru. Maybe it is just me but I find the process of the testimonial section of the WebPages a little disingenuous.

To play the Internet marketing game is getting a little expensive. Not many people are willing to plunk down $997.00 for an ebook in order to earn $1,000 per month. Another problem is the massive amount of information that has be provided in order to justify the price. There are no cliff notes in IM.

My children rail at the cost of college textbooks that will prepare them for a dull career. If one of their books costs over $100.00 they think of staging a walk out.

But with Google Adsense, the relationship is with just you, Google, and the online web surfer who clicks on your little ads and goes merrily on their way. The web surfer is an innocuous entity that you will never know who they are. You will never have to issue a refund or receive a scathing email about the failure of your product to produce millions of dollars for them overnight.

It is the anonymity of the Google Adsense program that makes it so appealing. Once you follow the rules and guidelines, you enter a totally democratic rarified society that has no color, ethnic or language barriers.

I was more than impressed with John Reese’s little report about his experiment where he explains how he earned $546,000 in one year with a network of niche websites. I calculated his expenditure and the number of websites required to conduct my own little part time experiment.

Gina Sands is an avid reader and participant in online opportunities. She is past president of OJA (Opportunity Junkie Anonymous). Virginia lives in Sacramento, CA. Mother of twin daughters and “Nana” to a precocious 8-year-old nicknamed Tre’. To start earning income with Adsense you need 2 pieces of software You can Purchase Article Power Kit and Empire Builder
